The Liberman Brothers
yesterday we had the pleasure of shooting the finishing images for www.seasaltandbourbon.com. The Liberman brothers are going to be discussing everything food and drink on their blog. (more…)
today we are hanging the erotica show in the 1608 gallery. i collaborated with a great friend of mine, Sam Perry. I have been fortunate to have been influenced directly by 2 artists. Paul Aho and Sam Perry, both of whom have the most amazing compositional capability. My images have improved just by being around these great painters. Paul has a show up right now and Sam and i collaborated on this erotica show. We had a blast and the work is amazing. We started the process by selecting 2 models and shooting them on a seamless background. As i shot, Sam sketched and every few minutes we would discuss the poses and what we wanted to obtain. After editing the images down to 9 for each model we had a series of 4×5 images printed on a watercolor paper for sam to begin on as studies. the results were amazing. Sam selected 6 of the studies to work out on a larger scale. WOW is all i can say. I am honored to have been able to work with Sam on this project. we titled the body of work “the form and the fantastic”. here are a couple of examples of the final pieces.
come and see the show!!

a ridiculously early alarm went off yesterday morning. we had a 7am call time in miami so at o’dark thirty we left the studio with every bit of gear we thought we would be able to pile on a golf cart to shoot with. We shot Anthony Kim for the Royal Bank of Canada at the Doral Country Club. (more…)
wow, today was early after last night’s food shoot festivities. btw, last night the guys pulled out all of the stops in the last trivial pursuit game to come from behind and tie the girls at one game apiece. Anyway, today we shot some ballroom dancing images for the lovely samantha. giuseppe’s (www.glombardo.com) concept was for an uber clean, bright feeling so we lit it with a very clean, white light with a spot on the faces. lots of white space will allow G to use his magic. when complete, we will post the link here to Samantha’s website so you can hire her to fix those dancing shoes.

We like to combine work and fun as much as possible so tonight we were shooting some food shots for our friend and chef extraordinaire Jeremy Hanlon with My Fresh Chef (www.myfreshchef.com). We decided not to let any of the food go to waste so we invited a few of our friends over to sample the delights after we shot them. (more…)
today we got a taste of the good life, not actually a taste…a whiff maybe. we shot out at Palm Beach Airport for a private jet company called injet. www.injet.com THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO FLY! wow, we were shooting for Frank Worldwide, a killer agency based in miami that produces some amazing work. Take a look at some examples on their website. www.frankworldwide.com Anyway, we were shooting art today which was perfect since it allowed me to shoot the planes like they were bodies. the detail and lines on these planes were astonishing. who knew a rivet could be so sexy? well, apparently the guys at Frank did since that was their concept. We had killer weather and made some amazing images. We cant show you any finals until the campaign hits the street but here are some behind the scenes of Amy and i to hold you over.

if you look closely you’ll see something very funny…no, not me in the minuscule opening. look behind me. yes. those shirts are still there! we had to break down the set because we had scheduled a product shoot for Blinc Makeup. Giuseppe of G-Lombardo Design Studio was on hand to direct the shoot and as always allowed me to make some killer images that i am sure he will make even better in his designs. We explored every angle possible and tried a few that turned out to not be possible without g’s mad photoshop skills. For you photo purest out there remember even Ansel Adams used the tools available to him to manipulate the images to match his vision of the final image. But for the record both of these images are raw no photoshop needed.
well, I’m off to shoot, you guessed it…shirts!

234 shirts to be exact, but who’s counting. Actually, Amy and Jessica are counting…they have to steam each and every one of them! at just a few minutes a piece that quickly turns into 2 full days of steaming. then comes the fun part, the organization and tagging of each garment so that when i shoot it amy is able to label the image file with the proper name.
all in all we had a total of 384 product shots which took a whopping 78 hours!!

ok, two things…this post is most likely the worlds longest blog post, don’t worry, most posts will be short and sweet. Second, I’m cheating a bit by starting with this image and post, as it was a few months ago. it was most definitely very cool to be in the oval office with the ryder cup team and yes, whether like him or NOT, the president. this type of opportunity doesn’t come along very often so here is the story behind the photo.
when we arrived we were greeted at the white house gate by all of the dogs and security that one would expect, hope even. Then we were escorted through an entrance guarded by men with god knows what kind of weaponry and into the White House. Just like that we were inside, staring at a hallway filled with portraits of first ladies and china from Abraham Lincoln. (more…)
welcome to a our blog…a behind the scenes look at photography and life with an occasional celebration, cocktails for no reason and game night at the studio thrown in to make things interesting. we will make our best effort to explain how we shoot things for those interested in how we create images with enough fun sprinkled for those that could care less how we do it and just want the fun stuff.
